Cookie Policy
The complete list of cookies and similar technologies this site uses, what each one does, and how to change your mind at any time.
The short version: we do not set analytics cookies unless you accept them. Nothing on this site tracks you for advertising, and we do not share cookie data with advertisers. You can change your choice at any time using the link, also in the footer of every page.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device. Related technologies, such as localStorage, do much the same thing. We use the word "cookies" below to cover both.
2. Strictly necessary
These are set without asking, because the site cannot work properly without them. They store no advertising data and do not identify you personally.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
ms-consent |
MyStudy (localStorage) | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics cookies, so we do not ask again on every page | Until you clear it |
ms-lang |
MyStudy (localStorage) | Remembers whether you chose English or 中文 | Until you clear it |
_GRECAPTCHA |
Google reCAPTCHA | Set on the consultation and application forms only, to tell real applicants from automated abuse | 6 months |
| Supabase session tokens | Supabase | Keeps MyStudy staff signed in to the content management system. Not set for public visitors | Session |
3. Analytics, only with your consent
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which destinations, courses and articles students actually look at, so we can spend our effort on the pages that matter. It tells us things like "142 people viewed the Ireland page this week", not who those people are.
These cookies are blocked by default. They are set only after you press Accept analytics. Until then, Google Consent Mode holds analytics storage in a denied state and no analytics cookie is written to your device.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga |
Google Analytics | Distinguishes one visitor from another so repeat visits are not double-counted | 2 years |
_ga_PJQR69B0JR |
Google Analytics | Keeps track of the current session | 2 years |
If you decline, or accept and later change your mind, we delete the _ga cookies from your device and stop collecting.
4. Embedded content
Some pages embed video. We use youtube-nocookie.com rather than the standard YouTube player, which means YouTube does not set tracking cookies unless you actually press play. Once you play a video, YouTube's own cookie policy applies to that playback.
We also load fonts from Google Fonts and code libraries from jsDelivr. These do not set cookies, but the request itself reveals your IP address to those providers, as any request to any server does.
5. How to change your choice
- On this site: use the link in the footer of any page. Your new choice takes effect immediately.
- In your browser: every major browser lets you block or delete cookies from its settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop the language switcher and our forms from working correctly.
- Google's own opt-out: Google publishes a browser add-on that blocks Google Analytics on every site you visit.
6. Changes
If we add a new cookie or a new third-party tag, we will list it here and ask you again, rather than quietly relying on a consent you gave for something else.
