Why Spain

A European Degree Without European Prices

Spain combines internationally recognised degrees with some of the lowest tuition and living costs in Western Europe.

01

Subsidised Tuition Fees

Tuition at Spain's public universities is heavily subsidised, and that subsidy applies to international students too. Degrees start from EUR 800 per year.

02

The World's 2nd Language

Spanish is official in 20 countries with around 486 million native speakers, and it is one of the easiest languages for English speakers to learn.

03

Funded Erasmus+ Exchange

As a student in Spain you can take a funded exchange or internship in another EU country for one or two semesters.

04

Degrees Recognised Worldwide

Spanish university degrees align with the Bologna ECTS system, so your qualification is understood and accepted internationally.

Why at MCKL

Why Start at Methodist College Kuala Lumpur

MCKL is the only college in Malaysia where you can take a recognised pre-university qualification and Instituto Cervantes Spanish at the same time.

1

Founded by the Methodist Council of Education in 1983, with a long record of delivering quality education.

2

Offers Cambridge A Level and AUSMAT — both internationally recognised and accepted by Spain's Ministry of Education for admission into public universities.

3

Spanish taught by Instituto Cervantes, the non-profit public institution operating under Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

4

Learn Spanish at basic level (A1 & A2) concurrently with your academic qualification, so no extra year is lost.

The Pathway

From SPM to a Spanish Degree in Five Steps

Two of the five steps happen in Malaysia, so you arrive in Spain already qualified and already speaking Spanish.

Step 1
SPM / IGCSE O-Level
Entry requirement: 5 credits.
Step 2
AUSMAT or A Level with A1/A2 Spanish at MCKL
Spanish language classes delivered by Instituto Cervantes, taken alongside your pre-university studies.
12–18 months
Step 3
B1 & B2 Spanish in Spain
Immersive language study in Spain, with the option of the PCE university pathway course taken concurrently.
6 months
Step 4
Bachelor's Degree at a Public or Private University
Includes Erasmus+ eligibility for exchange or internship elsewhere in the EU, for one or two semesters abroad.
4 years
Step 5
Postgraduate Master's in the EU
Optional. Continue into a Master's programme anywhere in the European Union.
1–2 years
Because Steps 1 and 2 are completed in Malaysia at Malaysian costs, you spend fewer years abroad than a student who leaves straight after SPM — and you arrive in Spain already holding a qualification Spain's Ministry of Education recognises.
